Department of the Interior

Maintain and Reorganize

Mission Statement –

The U.S. Department of the Interior protects and manages the Nation’s natural resources and cultural heritage; provides scientific and other information about those resources; and honors its trust responsibilities or special commitments to American Indians, Alaska Natives, and affiliated Island Communities.

Discussion –

Maintaining Federal lands is clearly a responsibility for the Federal Government.

We believe that the U.S. Forest Service should be moved from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to the U.S. Department of the Interior.

We also believe that all functions related to American Indians and other indigenous people should be moved to a newly formed Department of Indigenous People.

Budget

Current Budget$13,903,000,000.00
Proposed Budget*
Savings$0.00

* All functions would remain, but might be move to other departments and some functions might be added, so no savings.
